Fasting is not an exact science

We are all different people with different biochemical systems, DNA, genetics, digestive systems, food histories and exercise regimes. Trial and error and success and failure are all part of the process.

In accomplishing a fast, you will realise three very important things

  1. YOU DIDN’T DIE! Most people have enough spare calories to go 40 days without eating.
  2. You strengthened your self-discipline and inner-confidence. You accomplished something that most people will never do. This is a milestone accomplishment in self-control.
  3. You observed yourself and recognised when you habitually reach for food. This helps reform your paradigm on food and your eating habits.

A long term aim: Regular Intelligent Fasting® RIF®

RIF® recommends fasting for one day most weeks and one week in 12. However, on your journey the ultimate aim is to get used to fasting. Each time you progressively take in less, you get closer to being able to fast on water alone. I can now regularly water-fast for much longer periods obviously. What fasting taught me was that I had been regularly eating foods that kept me weak, clogged my digestive system, constipated me and stressed my immune system (so it was unable to protect me).

I realised that it was not in my best interests to eat foods containing gluten, dairy produce, meat and bivalve seafood. They all weakened me and kept me sick. Okay, so be it. I came to terms with having the body I have, and it does not like these foods. I stopped eating them and my health took another giant step forward. The bloating stopped, the cold sores stopped. The asthma stopped and the sneezing stopped while the pimples and bad skin disappeared as my liver repaired itself.

Golden Rule No. 2: Regular Intelligent Fasting®

I realised that after years of poor food choices, sickness and drugs, I had totally stripped my intestines of good bacteria and gut flora. I had lots of rebuilding to do. I was also emptying my bowels only once a day. With this in mind I started studying the bowels. This was when I learned that the digestive system is the single most important part of the human body and the critical key to your health, your vitality and your longevity. Fasting, lifestyle changes and eating a plant-based wholefood diet are the key elements in transforming your bowel and digestive health. Transforming your bowel and digestive health is the single most important thing you can do for your health long term.
